Supervision
Professional Supervision and support:
1. Clinical supervision for trainee psychotherapists, counsellors and psychologists:.
An essential part of supervision is offering a secure base from which individuals can develop both professionally and personally. I aim to provide space for reflection, creativity, challenge, encouragement and constructive feedback.
I offer perspectives on, for example, contracting with clients, ethical issues, risk assessment, theoretical integration, diagnosis and treatment planning, and transferential issues. My aim is to provide supervision at the level and appropriateness of the supervisee. I am a Provisional Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst and provide accredited supervision to trainee CTA's.
2.Professional Supervision for Health and Social Care Professions
I provide wide ranging professional supervision, to managers and practitioners within local organisations. I find this stimulating. I can draw on my own previous organisational and management experience. In addition, Transactional Analysis has a wealth of theory to offer in terms of understanding the psychological energies and scripts of organisations and their impact on individuals.
I am particularly interested in the issues of professionals taking care of themselves in order to stay effective and in developing excellence in their work roles—whether they work in or outside of organisations. I encourage supervisees to reflect on this as part of the supervision process.
In addition, I use supervision–related skills in managerial areas. For more information follow the link for Mentoring and Coaching.
Supervision / CPD groups:
I offer groupwork opportunities for professionals wanting to continue their personal and professional development. I currently run 2 CPD groups which meet monthly and focus on participants' interests and needs. Groups start in September of each year.
Both groups are small in size (up to a maximum of 5) and participants have a mixture of different trainings, qualifications and backgrounds. We often compare and contrast differences in our approaches, techniques, and theory base. We keep up to date with new developments and research in our fields, and support group members with tasks such as achieving and renewing accreditation.
In summary, the CDP groups offer the opportunity for:
- space and reflection
- supervision
- challenge and feedback
- shared enjoyment
- cross professional learning
- self directed goals
- sharing the impact of our work with other colleagues
